Wendy Williams shocked Don Lemon when she revealed the terrible things she endured under her guardian for three years: “I couldn’t even cry for help…”

Wendy Williams, the former host of *The Wendy Williams Show*, is speaking out to clarify the speculation surrounding her health

and the conservatorship that has been in place for nearly three years.

During an emotional interview with Charlamagne tha God on Thursday,

the 60-year-old television personality opened up about her struggles with her court-ordered guardianship and the impact it has had on her life.

In the candid conversation, Williams described her current situation as “ridiculous,”

revealing that for the past three years, she has been living under the supervision of a guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey.

She expressed feelings of isolation, comparing her life to being “in prison,” as she is unable to go out or do much beyond looking out of the window. “I’m isolated. I feel like I’m in prison,” Williams said, sharing the deep frustration she feels with her circumstances.

Williams, who has been residing in a wellness facility in New York City, vehemently denied claims that she is incapacitated, as suggested by her guardian. When Don Lemon, who interviewed Williams on his podcast, asked if she was “incapacitated” as Morrissey had indicated, she firmly responded with “Hell f–king no.” This marked a stark rebuttal to the allegations made by her guardian, who had filed a court document in November 2023 claiming that Williams suffers from permanent incapacitation and dementia. The filing also referred to Williams as being unable to manage her affairs and in need of full-time care.

The inquiry about her mental state seemed to make Williams uneasy. She explained to Lemon that she fears speaking out could result in consequences, including being cut off from seeing her family. “I don’t know how much I can talk without being punished,” Williams said, expressing concern about being unable to see her father or have any freedom if she speaks too much about her guardianship.

Williams’ frustration with her situation continued as she reflected on her isolation. “I’m not in a good position,” she admitted. “My life is screwed up. You know, this guardian mess is — please, look, I am isolated. I feel like I’m in prison. I feel like, you know, they’re trying to control me and everything that I do.” She also described the situation as a form of emotional abuse, as she is reportedly restricted from accessing the internet or using a laptop or iPad. “This is what is called emotional abuse,” she declared, revealing that she has only $15 to her name, which only added to her sense of helplessness.

Earlier in the day, Williams broke down in tears during an interview on *The Breakfast Club*, where she also denied claims of cognitive impairment. She vehemently refuted the idea that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, as suggested by her care team in 2023. “Do I seem that way, God damn it?” she responded when asked about her cognitive abilities. Williams was clearly emotional, asserting her cognitive clarity despite the challenges she faces.

Williams’ niece, Alex Finnie, also joined the conversation and defended her aunt’s mental state, emphasizing that Williams has always had a unique personality. “Anybody that knows my aunt knows she’s always been a unique personality,” Finnie said. “How she’s talking, that’s her. That’s who she is. Don’t try to twist how she is.”

The controversy surrounding Williams’ guardianship has intensified with the release of the 2024 Lifetime documentary, *Where Is Wendy Williams?*, which delves into her personal struggles. In response to the documentary, Morrissey filed a lawsuit against A&E Television Networks, attempting to prevent the airing of the docuseries, while A&E countersued, claiming that Morrissey was aware of the sensitive content the documentary would address.

Williams has made a handful of rare public appearances since her last broadcast of *The Wendy Williams Show* in June 2022. These moments have sparked continued concern and speculation about her health and well-being, but with her recent interviews, Williams is attempting to set the record straight and assert her autonomy.

As Williams continues to navigate her personal challenges, her decision to speak out publicly is a sign of her determination to regain control of her life and address the narratives that have been shaped about her. It remains to be seen how her legal and personal battles will unfold, but for now, Wendy Williams is making it clear that she refuses to be silenced.
