The ongoing divorce battle between Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness is escalating, with experts predicting that Hugh might have to pay almost his entire fortune.

After nearly three decades of marriage, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are encountering significant challenges as they navigate their divorce.

Although the couple publicly announced their separation in September 2023, they have yet to file for divorce.

One of the main hurdles delaying the finalization of their divorce is the lack of a prenuptial agreement,

a situation that has made the division of their substantial assets complex.

According to a source close to the situation, the absence of a prenup has added complications to what could already be a contentious divorce.

“One of the biggest reasons why they haven’t yet filed is that they never had a prenup,” the source shared with the *Daily Mail*.

As a result, the couple is now faced with dividing their $250 million fortune, which could make the legal process “messy.” The source emphasized that when they married in 1996, neither Hugh nor Deborra-Lee anticipated Hugh’s career would reach the massive heights it did, adding further complexity to their financial split.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee met on the Australian TV show *Correlli* in 1995 and married the following year. Over the course of their marriage, they adopted two children, son Oscar, now 24, and daughter Ava, now 19. Despite their separation, the couple remains committed to co-parenting their children, prioritizing their well-being amid the ongoing divorce proceedings.

The couple’s shared assets are vast, including multiple high-value properties. They own a $3.5 million estate in East Hampton, a $5.9 million beach house in Bondi, Sydney, and a $21 million Manhattan penthouse they purchased just a year before their split. The distribution of these assets has proven to be one of the key issues in the divorce, with the source noting that the complex financial situation requires careful consideration. “A lot of moving parts need to be worked out and there is a huge amount of money involved,” they added, emphasizing that both Hugh and Deborra-Lee are trying to make the process as smooth as possible for the sake of their family.

While the financial challenges of the divorce are significant, the emotional aspect of the separation has also taken a toll. As Hugh’s career soared, Deborra-Lee reportedly struggled with feelings of “resentment and an imbalance of power” in their relationship. Despite these difficulties, the couple has managed to remain cordial, particularly in regard to their children. “They are cordial to each other, but they are no longer friends,” the source revealed. “They put their differences aside to co-parent, and he cares a lot about his children.”

Hugh’s new romantic relationship with Broadway star Sutton Foster has further complicated matters. The couple confirmed their romance earlier this month when they were seen holding hands in Los Angeles following a dinner date. While there is no indication that their relationship overlapped with his marriage to Deborra-Lee, the timing of their romance has fueled speculation. Deborra-Lee herself added to the tension by “liking” a social media post that claimed Hugh was “running off with the mistress.” This public interaction only intensified the discord between the former spouses, with the source suggesting that Deborra-Lee feels hurt by the situation.

Hugh and Sutton’s relationship began as a friendship while they worked together on the Broadway show *The Music Man*, where they became close over time. However, despite the source’s insistence that there was no overlap between Hugh’s marriages, the news of his new relationship has undeniably affected the already difficult divorce proceedings.

As the divorce drags on, with no prenup in place and a complex financial situation to untangle, the future of Hugh and Deborra-Lee’s relationship remains uncertain. While they have both moved on in different directions, their shared commitment to their children continues to be a point of unity in the midst of their personal struggles. The process of finalizing the divorce and dividing their assets could take more time as the couple works through these complications, and the outcome will likely have a lasting impact on their lives moving forward.
