Stephen Curry expressed outrage after discovering that the Toronto Raptors were bullying a child before a game, issuing a scathing statement.

Stephen Curry, widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA players in history,

has captured the hearts of basketball fans around the world with his unmatched shooting abilities and dedication to his craft.

Since entering the NBA in 2009, Curry has transformed the game, leading the Golden State Warriors to four championships and earning numerous accolades,

including two MVP awards and ten All-Star selections.

His dedication to excellence has also earned him recognition off the court,

such as being named AP Athlete of the Year in 2015 and Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year in 2018 and 2022.

However, during a recent game between the Warriors and the Toronto Raptors, Curry found himself in an unusual situation that left him both shocked and disappointed.

The Controversial Incident Before the Raptors Game

The Warriors and Raptors squared off at Scotiabank Arena on Monday night, with Toronto ultimately emerging victorious 104-101. Despite the loss, Curry managed to make history, passing NBA legend Allen Iverson on the all-time scoring list, moving into 28th place. But it was a pre-game moment that caused outrage among fans and left Curry dismayed.

Prior to the game, the Raptors had invited a young fan to interact with the players during their warm-ups, a moment that should have been memorable for the child. However, things took an unexpected and uncomfortable turn. The Raptors’ personnel asked the young fan to remove his Golden State Warriors jersey, which featured Curry’s iconic No. 30, before allowing him onto the court. The boy, who clearly identified as a Curry fan, was forced to replace his jersey with a red T-shirt bearing the Raptors logo.

The situation was uncomfortable for everyone involved, particularly for the young fan, who appeared shocked and disappointed. In the footage, the child’s body language clearly displayed his discomfort with the forced change. He wasn’t a fan of the Raptors and had come to support his favorite player, Curry. Yet, he had no choice but to comply with the team’s rule.

Public Outcry and Curry’s Disapproval

As the incident made its way into public view, fans, commentators, and even Curry himself expressed outrage. A TV commentator shared their dismay, saying, “Look how sad he is! Come on, now. Usually they said ‘you made that kid’s night.’ They’ve ruined his night! That’s rough. Came in as a Curry fan and having them deny your true loyalty. That’s not right!”

Curry, who has always shown respect for his fans, especially the younger generation who look up to him, was visibly displeased with the treatment of the child. It was a clear violation of the spirit of sportsmanship, which often revolves around creating positive experiences for fans, especially those attending their first NBA game. Instead of a moment of joy, the child’s experience was marred by the Raptors’ decision.

For Curry, who has become synonymous with the Warriors, it was a tough pill to swallow, not only for the young fan but for anyone who believes in supporting young fans regardless of team loyalties.

Golden State Warriors’ Struggles Continue

Despite Curry’s individual success, the Golden State Warriors are currently struggling this season. The loss to the Raptors dropped the Warriors’ record to below .500 for the first time in the 2024-2025 season. With a 19-20 record, Golden State finds itself in a precarious position, currently ranked 11th in the competitive Western Conference. They’ve struggled on the road, with a 9-10 record away from home and have lost eight of their last 10 games on the road.

One of the Warriors’ major issues this season has been their shooting efficiency. The team has found itself struggling when shooting below 40% from the field, with a 0-7 record in such games. However, Curry’s performance continues to shine amidst the challenges, as he registered 26 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the loss to Toronto, further solidifying his place in NBA history. He also passed Kobe Bryant for 35th place on the all-time assists list, a testament to his all-around game.

The Road Ahead for the Warriors

With the Warriors in a tough spot, they will need to find a way to turn things around if they have any hopes of making a deep playoff run this season. The team faces a stiff challenge from other top teams in the Western Conference, including the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite their struggles, the Warriors still have plenty of time to make adjustments, and with Curry leading the charge, they will undoubtedly look to bounce back in the coming weeks. The upcoming 74th NBA All-Star Game, which will take place at Chase Center in San Francisco on February 16, 2025, presents a bright spot for the Warriors and their fanbase. Curry is expected to make his 11th All-Star appearance, and the weekend’s events could provide a much-needed morale boost for the struggling franchise.

As for the young fan who was caught in the middle of the Raptors’ controversial decision, it serves as a reminder of how important it is to foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all fans, regardless of their team allegiances. After all, the heart of the NBA is not just about competition but also about the love for the game that transcends team colors.
