Sheinelle Jones, who has been missing from TODAY for more than a month, surprises everyone by revealing her comeback date but teases a possible shift in her responsibilities.

NBC’s Sheinelle Jones, co-host of the 3rd Hour of TODAY, has announced a temporary break from the morning show to address a family health issue.

The beloved journalist shared the news with her followers on social media, sparking an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues alike.

Jones took to Instagram on January 15 to update her audience, expressing gratitude for the concern and well-wishes she has received during her absence.

“Hi everybody… I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show.

I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter,” she wrote.

Acknowledging the support from her TODAY Show colleagues, Jones conveyed how much it means to her during this challenging time.

“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my TODAY Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon,” she added.

Outpouring of Support from Colleagues and Fans

Jones’ co-hosts quickly responded with heartfelt messages. Savannah Guthrie, a key figure on the TODAY Show, reshared Jones’ post, reinforcing the sentiment that her absence is deeply felt. “We love you so. Not the same without you. We will see you soon,” Guthrie commented, adding a red heart emoji to emphasize her affection and support.

Jenna Bush Hager, another co-host on the morning program, also chimed in with an emotional message. “You are a queen and are LOVED beyond measure! Wrapping our arms around you, always,” she wrote, highlighting the close-knit bond between the show’s hosts.

Jones’ followers, many of whom have grown accustomed to her warm presence on their screens every morning, flooded the comments with well-wishes and encouragement. From longtime fans to casual viewers, the consensus was clear—her presence is missed, and they are eager for her return once she is ready.

A Familiar Face on Morning Television

Jones has been a staple on the TODAY Show since 2014, winning over viewers with her engaging personality and journalistic excellence. As a co-host of the 3rd Hour of TODAY, she has covered a wide range of topics, from hard-hitting news stories to lighthearted segments that bring joy to morning audiences. Her departure, even if temporary, leaves a noticeable void on the show.

The journalist and television personality has always been transparent with her audience, sharing insights into her personal and professional life. In 2020, Jones underwent vocal cord surgery and took time off to recover, during which she also received immense support from her colleagues and fans. That experience showcased just how much she is loved and appreciated by those around her.

Prioritizing Family During Difficult Times

Jones has not disclosed specific details regarding the family health matter that has led to her stepping away from the show, and she has asked for privacy as she navigates this period. However, her openness about needing time to focus on her loved ones has been met with understanding and empathy.

The TODAY Show family is no stranger to supporting one another through personal challenges. Co-host Hoda Kotb took time off in 2023 to care for a family matter, and her return was met with the same warmth and encouragement that Jones is currently receiving. The camaraderie and mutual respect among the TODAY Show hosts have always been evident, and this moment is no exception.

Awaiting Her Return

Although there is no set timeline for Jones’ return, viewers remain hopeful that she will be back on their screens soon. In the meantime, her seat on the 3rd Hour of TODAY will likely be filled by rotating hosts until she is ready to resume her role.

Jones’ resilience, professionalism, and warm spirit have made her a beloved part of the TODAY Show, and fans eagerly await the moment she announces her return. Until then, she can rest assured that she has the unwavering support of her colleagues, fans, and loved ones.

For now, Jones is focusing on what matters most—her family. As she takes the necessary time away, the TODAY Show community continues to send their love and best wishes her way, eagerly awaiting the day she returns to brighten mornings once again.
