Kody Brown from Sister Wives regretted calling his wife “crazy,” admitting it led to him being estranged from his children.

Kody Brown, the patriarch of *Sister Wives*, is speaking out about the ongoing rift between him and some of his older children,

insisting he will not choose between his estranged kids and his wife, Robyn Brown.

In a recent episode of the reality show, aired on January 12, 2025,

Kody made it clear that while he deeply wishes for a reconciliation with his children, he will not sever his relationship with Robyn to facilitate that.

“My children will always be my children and the door will always be open to them,” Kody, 55, said, addressing the tensions within his family.

“They’ve got to come through that door.” However, Kody also acknowledged that there is a significant barrier standing between his children and his current relationship with Robyn, 46.

According to Kody, many of his older children have issues with Robyn, which has contributed to the ongoing estrangement.

Despite this, Kody emphasized his commitment to his relationship with Robyn, stating, “I’m going to be holding a hand out for that, but I’m going to be holding this hand that’s next to me, and I won’t let go of that hand.” Kody further declared that he will not “cut off Robyn to have a relationship with my children,” indicating that his loyalty to his wife comes first.

This ongoing family dynamic, particularly the estrangement from some of Kody’s children, has been a central topic in recent *Sister Wives* episodes. Kody shares 18 children with his four wives—Robyn, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown—and while his relationships with Meri, Janelle, and Christine have ended, he remains committed to Robyn. His divorce from his previous wives, as well as the subsequent changes in family structure, have had a lasting impact on his relationships with his children.

In a previous episode from December 2024, Kody’s second wife, Janelle, 55, spoke out about the strain in their family. She shut down the idea that Kody’s estrangement from his children could be fixed by simply leaving Robyn at home during family events. Janelle explained that Kody’s children did not want him at gatherings, regardless of who he brought with him. She pointed out that Kody is alienated from 90 to 95 percent of his children and that his presence at these events was not welcomed.

Janelle also shared her frustration with the idea that Kody believed his absence from family gatherings could be resolved by not bringing Robyn along. “Kody is alienated from 90 to 95 percent of his children. He is not really wanted at events. He’s not coming regardless of who he brings or doesn’t bring with him,” Janelle stated.

Kody’s estrangement from his children has been an emotional journey for the *Sister Wives* star, and in a reflective moment on his 55th birthday in November 2024, he admitted to feelings of regret. “It’s my 55th birthday today, and I’ve had an interesting life,” Kody reflected. “I remember five years ago and thinking, ‘OK, I’m halfway through. What do I want to do for the rest of my life? What do I want to be for the rest of my life?’” He went on to explain that the divorces from his previous wives left him feeling lost and guilty about the time he did not spend with his children.

While Kody acknowledged the struggle he has faced with the breakup of his polygamous family, he found comfort in his relationship with Robyn. “But I have a safe, kind and sweet place with my wife Robyn,” he admitted. At the same time, he expressed guilt over not being more involved with his other children, stating, “Then I have tons of guilt because I’m not more involved with everybody else that’s out there.”

Kody’s family situation has been complicated, to say the least. The breakdown of his marriages and his role as a father has led to ongoing tension, but Kody remains firm in his stance that he will not let go of Robyn. He expressed frustration with his children blaming him for not being present enough during their upbringing, pointing to the demands and complications of juggling multiple marriages. “What has happened is in the divorce — in the divorces — is the ugly finger of blame has come out. ‘Dad, you were never at my house,’” Kody said. “I’m sorry, I had four wives. I was at your house, though, because the other wife was complaining that I was at your house.”

Kody’s decision to stay by Robyn’s side, despite the ongoing rift with his children, is sure to remain a central issue for *Sister Wives* fans. His refusal to choose between his wife and children highlights the complex dynamics within his family and his commitment to navigating the relationships that matter most to him. The journey of healing and reconciliation, both with his children and within his marriage, will likely continue to unfold in future episodes of the popular TLC show.
