Kevin Spacey has publicly addressed recent comments made by L.A. Confidential co-star Guy Pearce,

who described the actor as “quite an aggressive man” and claimed he felt “targeted” while working with him on the 1997 film.
In a nearly two-minute video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Spacey confronted Pearce’s statements directly,
questioning why the Australian actor chose to speak to the press rather than addressing him personally.

Spacey Calls Out Pearce’s Decision to Speak Publicly

“We worked together a long time ago,” Spacey began in the video, speaking directly to Pearce. “If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me.

We could have had that conversation, but instead, you’ve decided to speak to the press, who are now, of course, coming after me because they would like to know what my response is to the things that you said.”
Spacey then gave a blunt response to Pearce’s claims: “You really want to know what my response is? Grow up.”
The House of Cards actor also pointed out that Pearce traveled to Georgia about a year after filming L.A. Confidential, allegedly just to spend time with him.
“I mean, did you tell the press that too, or does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?” Spacey asked. “I apologize that I didn’t get the message that you don’t like spending time with me. Maybe there was another reason, I don’t know, but that doesn’t make any sense. That you would have just been leading me on, right? But here you are now on a mission, some 28 years later, after I’ve been through hell and back.”

Pearce’s Original Allegations Against Spacey
Pearce, 57, first spoke about his experience with Spacey in 2018 during an interview with Australian presenter Andrew Denton at the height of the #MeToo movement. At the time, he referred to Spacey as a “handsy guy” but clarified that he had not been sexually assaulted or molested. However, he admitted to feeling uncomfortable around him.
Now, two years after Spacey was acquitted of multiple sexual assault charges in a high-profile London trial, Pearce has revisited his claims. In a conversation on Andrew Feinberg’s Awards Chatter podcast, the Neighbours star elaborated on his experience working with Spacey, saying he felt “targeted” by the actor.

“Ah, that’s nothing. Ah, no, that’s nothing. I did that for five months, and really, I was sort of scared of Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive man,” Pearce stated.
“He’s extremely charming and brilliant at what he does—really impressive, etc. He holds a room remarkably. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question.”
Pearce Reflects on His Past Comments
Pearce was hesitant to label himself a victim, but acknowledged that Spacey’s behavior left a lasting impact.

“Even though I probably was a victim to a degree, I was certainly not a victim by any means to the extent that other people have been to sexual predators,” he admitted.
He also recalled “a couple of confrontations” with Spacey that he described as having “gotten ugly.” While filming L.A. Confidential, Pearce was accompanied by his then-wife, Kate Mestitz, and shared that he often felt uncomfortable on set.
“The only days I feel safe are the days when [Simon Baker] is on set because I’m dumped like a hot potato, and [Kevin] focuses on [Simon] because he was ten times prettier than I am,” Pearce recalled.

Pearce’s Emotional Reaction to Spacey’s Scandal
The actor also revealed that when allegations against Spacey first emerged in 2017, he broke down in tears.
“I was in London working on something, and I heard [the reports] and I broke down and sobbed, and I couldn’t stop,” he shared. “I think it really dawned on me the impact that had occurred and how I sort of brushed it off and how I had either shelved it or blocked it out or whatever. That was a really incredible wake-up call.”
Pearce added that he doesn’t “want [Spacey] to get away with what he gets away with” and said he now wants to be more honest about his experience.

Spacey Faces New Legal Challenges
These comments come at a time when Spacey is facing yet another legal battle. Just days before Pearce’s remarks resurfaced, actor Rauri Cannon filed a lawsuit against Spacey in the UK’s High Court, accusing him of sexual abuse. The lawsuit also names two organizations connected to the Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey served as artistic director for over a decade.
Spacey, 64, has repeatedly denied all allegations against him. In 2023, he was acquitted of multiple sexual assault charges in the UK after a lengthy trial.

Following the verdict, Spacey issued a public statement, saying:
“I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. But I would like to say that I am enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached their decision, and I am humbled by the outcome today.”
Despite the legal battles and continued controversy, Spacey remains a divisive figure in Hollywood. While some have rallied behind him following his acquittal, others—including former co-stars like Pearce—continue to speak out about their experiences working with him.

As the latest allegations unfold, it remains to be seen how Spacey’s career and reputation will be affected moving forward.
