Jenna Bush Hager revealed that there was a time when she strongly disliked her husband to the point where she couldn’t even bear to see him after he made a mistake that put their child in danger. What led to this conflict?

Jenna Bush Hager has never been one to hold back when it comes to sharing personal anecdotes on Today,

and her latest revelation had viewers—and her co-hosts—laughing.

During a segment alongside comedians Heather McMahan and Rosebud Baker,

Jenna shared a surprising story about her husband’s unusual timing for a medical procedure, leaving her both frustrated and amused.

A Surprise Confession on Today

The discussion took a humorous turn when Baker, known for her Netflix stand-up special The Mother Lode, shared details about her husband’s behavior when she went into labor.

She described how he seemed entirely at ease, relaxing in a hospital room with a flat-screen TV while she endured the pains of childbirth.

“He was so confident walking into the room… the room with the throne and the flat-screen TV,” Baker joked. “I know how painful it is for you to be in the room alone with a flat-screen TV. I’m getting surgery next door, and he’s just having a good time.”

That’s when Jenna chimed in with her own experience, revealing that her husband, Henry Hager, had scheduled a colonoscopy just two days before her due date.

“My husband got a colonoscopy like two days before,” Jenna said before quickly realizing the potential fallout of her comment. “Please don’t put this on the internet.”

Of course, that plea was in vain, as the moment quickly gained traction online.

Jenna’s Frustration: “Why Am I Picking You Up?”

Jenna went on to explain how baffled she was by the timing of her husband’s decision, saying, “And I was like, ‘Why are you scheduling this appointment for right now? I could be going into labor, but here I am picking you up from the clinic.’”

McMahan and Baker burst into laughter, with Baker joking that Henry might have just wanted some attention before the baby arrived. “Yes, because he’s like, ‘I want my time to shine, that’s what it is.’”

It’s safe to say that Jenna’s story struck a chord with many women who have experienced similar frustrations during pregnancy. The moment highlighted the sometimes clueless—yet unintentionally hilarious—decisions that partners can make during such a pivotal time.

Jenna’s Candid Nature on Marriage

Jenna has become more reserved when discussing her marriage on-air, likely due to past instances where her candid remarks have made headlines. In a previous segment on Today, actress Justine Lupe asked Jenna if her husband ever gave her the “ick”—a term used to describe moments when a partner’s behavior suddenly becomes off-putting.

Jenna hesitated before responding, and her co-host Hoda Kotb quickly jumped in to save her from saying something that might stir up trouble. “Oh God, don’t, don’t, no, don’t,” Hoda interjected, knowing that anything Jenna said could easily end up in tabloids. “Justine, what happens is it gets in Page Six, and then she gets in trouble.”

Jenna ultimately avoided answering the question, but it was clear that she had learned to be more cautious about what she shares regarding her relationship.

A Relatable Moment for Moms Everywhere

Jenna’s story about Henry’s poorly timed colonoscopy resonated with many viewers, as it shed light on the sometimes comical ways men react to the impending arrival of a baby. While expecting mothers focus on preparing for childbirth, their partners can sometimes make choices that seem tone-deaf in the moment.

Fans of Today love Jenna for her openness and ability to laugh at the chaos of family life. Whether she’s sharing parenting struggles or making fun of her husband’s quirks, she continues to connect with audiences by keeping it real.

As for Henry, he might think twice before scheduling a procedure so close to an important family event in the future!
