George Clooney faced strong reactions after announcing he won’t leave an inheritance for his children. What’s behind this decision?

George Clooney and Amal Clooney have kept their twins, Ella and Alexander, largely out of the public eye, but the Hollywood icon recently offered a rare glimpse into their lives.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, George, 63, discussed their experiences

as parents and how their seven-year-old children are growing up to be well-rounded individuals.

Raising Cultured and Worldly Children

George and Amal, 47, have been married since 2014 and are raising their children with a focus on exposure to diverse experiences.

While they maintain a private family life, George occasionally shares insights into their parenting approach.

During his interview, he emphasized the importance of teaching his children resilience, using his son Alexander’s love for chess as an example.

“I have a son who plays in chess tournaments. He’s seven years old, competing against older kids, and he’s not always winning, as you can imagine,” he explained. The actor highlighted the significance of sportsmanship, recounting how he encourages his son to accept both victories and losses with grace. “I tell him, ‘You shake the guy’s hand, you say good game, and you try again next time.’ You have to live by those rules.”

Life in New York City

The Clooney family recently relocated to New York City as George prepares for his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck, an adaptation of the 2005 film that he co-wrote, directed, and starred in.

When asked about their time in the city, George shared that the transition has been a positive one. “They love New York! Amal went to NYU, so she’s familiar with the city,” he said, jokingly adding, “The kids, however, did not go to NYU. They’re smart kids, but not that smart!” He went on to express how much they enjoy the energy of the city, saying, “Come on, how do you not love this? It’s New York City! They love being here, and we’re having a really fun time.”

Balancing Career and Family

Despite his busy schedule, George is making sure to balance his professional commitments with family life. His Broadway run is expected to last six months, and he is prioritizing spending quality time with his children during the day before performing at night.

He previously spoke with GQ about his approach to work-life balance, emphasizing the importance of being present for his family. “I wrote a Broadway play, Good Night, and Good Luck. I’m going to be on Broadway for six months in New York,” he said. “But it’s all about time management. I won’t take on another project during this time. I really enjoy driving my kids to school, and my wife and I are having a wonderful time, so I don’t want to miss out on that.”

A New Chapter on Broadway

Taking on Broadway for the first time is an exciting milestone for the Oscar-winning actor. He expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to challenge himself artistically while maintaining a fulfilling personal life.

“This is an opportunity to do something I’ve never done before. I’ve never been on Broadway,” he shared. “We’re still trying new things, but at the same time, we want to make sure we’re enjoying our lives in a meaningful way. It’s about finding that balance—doing exciting work while also making time for what matters most.”

The Clooney Family’s Future Plans

With his Broadway debut underway, George is embracing both his professional and personal roles with excitement. His reflections on parenthood and work-life balance highlight his commitment to both his craft and his family. As he continues this new venture, it’s clear that George Clooney is making the most of his time in New York while ensuring that his children grow up with enriching experiences and valuable life lessons.
