Evidence suggests LA fire “relief efforts” may have been a front for personal gains: “They’re exploiting people’s trust…”

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited survivors of the Los Angeles wildfires in Pasadena, many assumed their actions would be met with praise.

After all, offering support and compassion to those affected by a devastating catastrophe seems like a universally commendable gesture.

However, their visit was met with harsh criticism, and once again, the couple found themselves at the center of a public relations storm.

Hollywood film-maker Justine Bateman led the charge, taking to social media to denounce the Sussexes’ visit as nothing more than a “photo op.”

She accused the pair of behaving like “disaster tourists,” highlighting their lack of ties to Pasadena as evidence of their self-serving motives.

Bateman’s post quickly gained traction, and many others echoed her sentiments.

Instead of receiving credit for their empathy, Harry and Meghan were branded as opportunists, accused of using a tragedy to further their personal brand.

This backlash points to a deeper issue: the Sussexes’ reputation has become so tarnished that nearly every move they make is scrutinized, often through a lens of suspicion. Even a well-meaning visit to wildfire survivors, an act of kindness that would normally elicit gratitude, was viewed by many as a public relations stunt. The couple’s attempts at compassion were overshadowed by their previous actions, which have left many people cynical about their true intentions.

The roots of this skepticism can be traced back to the couple’s decision to publicly criticize the Royal family in their infamous Oprah interview. In that tell-all, and in Harry’s subsequent memoir, the Sussexes aired personal grievances in a manner that many felt was self-serving and disrespectful. The result has been an irreversible shift in how they are perceived by millions of people around the world. Instead of being seen as figures of grace and goodwill, they are now viewed by many as sanctimonious and hypocritical, with their every move scrutinized for ulterior motives.

This shift in public perception was only amplified by the couple’s most recent public intervention. In a lengthy joint statement, Harry and Meghan expressed their outrage over Facebook’s decision to end censorship of conservative views on the platform. The statement, filled with dramatic language, condemned the move as a threat to democracy and warned that it could “normalize hate speech” and sow “division” in society. While their concerns about free speech may have been sincere, the tone and delivery of the statement only served to reinforce the growing perception that the Sussexes are out of touch with public sentiment.

The language used in their statement — full of progressive catchphrases like “marginalized communities” and “diversity and equity” — felt disconnected from the concerns of ordinary people. Many have grown weary of what they perceive as patronizing, left-wing rhetoric that prioritizes political correctness over practical solutions. The public, once more inclined to support progressive ideals, now views these arguments with increasing skepticism, seeing them as an attempt to control what people can say and think. For many, it’s become clear that modern progressivism is less about kindness and more about imposing a particular worldview on others.

Harry and Meghan’s failure to recognize this shift in public opinion is striking. Instead of adapting to the changing political and social landscape, they continue to cling to outdated slogans and divisive language. Their stance on issues like free speech, though well-intentioned, only highlights their increasing disconnection from the realities of public life. The world has moved on, but the Sussexes seem stuck in the past, unable or unwilling to understand the mood of the moment.

Their situation serves as a cautionary tale for public figures who fail to read the room. While Harry and Meghan once enjoyed a level of public adoration, their recent actions have alienated large segments of the population. By prioritizing personal grievances and grandstanding on political issues, they have created a lasting image of a couple out of touch with the world around them. Their fall from grace is not simply the result of one or two missteps but of a broader, more profound shift in how they are perceived — a shift they seem oblivious to.

In the end, the Sussexes’ story is one of missed opportunities and misjudgments. Their genuine attempts to help others are overshadowed by the narrative they have helped create, and their public interventions only serve to reinforce their growing disconnect from the people they claim to represent. Whether or not they can ever regain the public’s trust remains to be seen, but for now, they continue to find themselves on the wrong side of history.
