Dane Cook shared a terrifying video of his family fleeing the LA wildfire, which left fans rattled.

Comedian and actor Dane Cook took to social media to document his “really scary”

evacuation from his home in the Hollywood Hills as the rapidly spreading Sunset Fire engulfed parts of the area.

The blaze, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, prompted mandatory evacuations, forcing residents to flee with little time to spare.

In a series of posts, Cook described the chaotic scene, sharing videos and photos of the approaching flames

and expressing his concern for the safety of his neighbors and first responders.

Cook explained how quickly the situation escalated, leaving him and others in the neighborhood scrambling to evacuate.

“It was surreal how fast everything unfolded,” he said. “One minute, I was hearing about a fire nearby, and the next, I was packing essentials and getting out of the house.”

The comedian shared a video of his view from the car as he drove away, with thick smoke and an orange glow visible in the background. “It’s really scary out here,” Cook narrated. “The flames are so close, and the air is so thick with smoke, it’s hard to breathe.”

The Sunset Fire, named for its location near Sunset Boulevard, began late in the afternoon and quickly spread due to dry vegetation and high winds. Fire officials reported that the blaze consumed hundreds of acres within hours, putting homes, wildlife, and infrastructure at risk. Emergency services worked tirelessly to contain the fire, with crews on the ground and helicopters dropping water over the affected areas. Despite their efforts, the fire’s rapid spread left many residents with little time to prepare.

While evacuating, Cook expressed his concern for his neighbors and the community at large. “It’s not just about my home,” he said. “There are so many people in this area who are being affected. My heart goes out to everyone trying to get to safety.”

He also took a moment to thank the firefighters and emergency responders risking their lives to protect residents and their property. “These men and women are heroes,” Cook said. “They’re out here in the thick of it, doing everything they can to keep us safe.”

Cook’s social media posts provided followers with a raw and unfiltered look at the reality of evacuating during a wildfire. He shared footage of his hurried packing, showing a small bag containing important documents, a few personal items, and supplies for his dog.

“This really puts things into perspective,” Cook said in one post. “You realize what truly matters when you’re forced to leave everything behind.” The comedian’s dog, a regular feature on his social media, was safely evacuated alongside him. Cook shared a photo of his pet in the back seat of his car, writing, “We’re safe, and that’s all that matters right now.”

Fans and fellow celebrities flooded Cook’s social media with messages of support, expressing relief that he was safe and offering prayers for everyone affected by the fire. Many also praised Cook for using his platform to raise awareness about the severity of the situation. Actor and friend Joel McHale commented, “Glad you’re safe, man. Let me know if you need anything.” Others urged Cook to continue updating his followers on the fire’s status and how they could help those impacted.

The Sunset Fire is one of several wildfires currently burning in California, a state that has become increasingly vulnerable to devastating fires due to climate change, prolonged droughts, and extreme heat.

Officials have warned that the fire season is far from over, urging residents to stay alert and have evacuation plans in place. Cook echoed this sentiment in one of his posts, encouraging his followers to take fire safety seriously.

“Don’t wait until it’s too late,” he advised. “Have a plan, and if you’re told to evacuate, do it. Things can be replaced—lives can’t.”

For now, Cook and his neighbors are focused on staying safe as firefighters work to contain the blaze. While the extent of the damage remains unclear, Cook expressed hope that his home and the surrounding area would survive the ordeal.

“I’m just grateful to be safe,” he said in his final post of the day. “This has been a terrifying experience, but it’s also a reminder of what really matters: people, not things.”

As the Sunset Fire continues to burn, Cook’s firsthand account serves as a sobering reminder of the destructive power of wildfires and the importance of preparedness in the face of natural disasters.
