Ari Emanuel, CEO of WME, is facing mounting pressure after Justin Baldoni claimed he has proof linking him to bribery: “This is the price of betr@yal…”

Blake Lively’s ongoing legal feud with her “It Ends With Us” co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, has escalated with the involvement of industry heavyweight Ari Emanuel.

The CEO of talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) recently voiced his strong support for Lively and her husband,

Ryan Reynolds, amid the controversy surrounding their legal disputes with Baldoni.

Emanuel’s remarks have further fueled the already high-stakes battle, adding a layer of public commentary to the growing legal drama.

The dispute first came to light when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, on December 20, 2023.

In her legal filing, Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, retaliation, emotional distress, negligence, and more.

She also named producer Jamey Heath in the complaint, which was filed in both California Civil Rights courts and federal court. These allegations stem from her experience working on “It Ends With Us,” a highly anticipated film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. The lawsuit alleges that Lively faced a hostile and unhealthy environment on set, with Baldoni and Heath accused of mistreating her during the production.

In response, Baldoni launched a series of legal counteractions. He initially filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times over their coverage of the case, which included reporting on the allegations made by Lively. Just days later, Baldoni filed a separate $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of hijacking the narrative around “It Ends With Us” and tarnishing his reputation.

Ari Emanuel’s Support for Lively and Reynolds

During a recent appearance at the “Freakonomics Radio Live” event, Ari Emanuel, the CEO of WME, offered a public defense of Lively and Reynolds, both of whom are clients of his agency. Emanuel expressed his frustration with Baldoni’s actions, even using an expletive to emphasize his disapproval. He described the situation as “f—– up” and criticized Baldoni’s conduct, saying, “Bologna … Baldoni … whatever his name is … is doing.”

Emanuel’s remarks about Baldoni’s past as a former WME client were candid. He revealed that he had personally made the decision to drop Baldoni from the agency after Lively’s allegations came to light. “Until I fired him,” Emanuel stated, referring to Baldoni’s departure from the agency following the controversy. The firing came shortly after Lively’s legal filings, which cast a shadow over Baldoni’s career and raised questions about the treatment of Lively on set.

In his public statement, Emanuel also lauded Lively and Reynolds as “incredible people” who have long been successful in Hollywood. He emphasized their positive reputation, saying, “People work with them, they’ve never had any bad mojo out there or treated people badly.” Emanuel further highlighted the couple’s charitable contributions, noting their generosity and involvement with various causes. He expressed his admiration for them, adding, “They’ve given tons of money away.”

The Legal Battle Escalates

The legal back-and-forth between Lively and Baldoni continues to unfold. Lively and Reynolds have not only denied the allegations made against them but have also taken action to defend their names. As part of their ongoing legal strategy, the couple has filed a motion to dismiss Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit. A hearing is set for March 20, 2024, for the dismissal motion.

Despite the intensifying legal drama, both sides have refused mediation, with their legal teams deeming settlement talks premature. In a joint letter filed in court on February 15, 2024, both Lively and Baldoni’s representatives agreed that mediation would be inappropriate for the case. The legal teams expressed their intention to proceed with the case, and the judge granted an order for the couple to file an amended version of their complaint by February 18.

The ongoing legal disputes between the stars of It Ends With Us have captivated the public, with both sides firmly standing their ground. With the media spotlight on them and the high stakes of the lawsuit, it remains to be seen how the situation will ultimately resolve. What is clear, however, is that Ari Emanuel’s vocal support for Lively and Reynolds adds an additional layer of complexity to this high-profile legal drama.
