An insider reveals the shocking truth about how Sheinelle Jones was treated before leaving TODAY: “They silenced her on purpose…”

Sheinelle Jones, a familiar face on NBC’s *Today*, has been noticeably absent from the show in recent weeks, leaving many viewers wondering about her whereabouts.

The beloved morning show host, who is a regular on the *Third Hour of Today*, finally addressed fans’ concerns,

explaining that she is taking a break to handle a private family health matter.

Jones’ absence has been felt even more amid the recent shakeups on *Today*, including Hoda Kotb’s emotional sendoff on January 10.

With Kotb stepping away and Jones temporarily off the air, longtime viewers have found themselves missing two of the show’s most recognizable personalities.

While Kotb’s departure had been announced in advance, Jones’ sudden disappearance left fans puzzled and eager for answers.

On Wednesday, the veteran journalist took to Instagram to share an update with her followers, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support she has received during this time.

“I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show,” Jones wrote. “I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my *Today Show* family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”

Although she chose not to disclose specific details regarding the situation, a source close to the *Today* host spoke to *Entertainment Tonight* and assured fans that the health matter does not involve Jones herself or her three children, whom she shares with her husband, Uche Ojeh. However, the insider did describe the situation as “serious.”

“Sheinelle appreciates the support she’s received from fans and viewers in her absence,” the source shared. “She’s especially grateful for her tight-knit *Today* show family and co-hosts for all their love during this sensitive time.”

The *Today* team has rallied around Jones, with her colleagues publicly acknowledging her absence and offering their well wishes. During Wednesday’s broadcast, *Today* co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin took a moment to send their love and support to their dear friend, making it clear that she is missed.

Jones, who has been a co-host on *Today* since 2019, is known for her warmth, professionalism, and dedication to her work. Whether delivering breaking news or sharing lighthearted moments with her colleagues, she has become an integral part of the morning show’s success. Her temporary departure is undoubtedly felt by both her co-workers and the millions of viewers who tune in daily.

For now, Jones remains focused on her family’s needs, and while there is no confirmed date for her return, fans can rest assured that she will be back once she has taken the necessary time away.

In the meantime, her absence serves as a reminder of the deep connection that television personalities share with their audiences. The overwhelming support from viewers highlights the impact Jones has had on *Today* and the affection people have for her. As she navigates this personal challenge, she can take comfort in knowing that she has an entire community standing behind her, eagerly awaiting her return.

Jones’ heartfelt message and the support she has received reflect the close-knit nature of the *Today* team and its audience. While viewers may miss her presence on screen, they respect her need to step away and handle what truly matters—family.

Until then, fans will continue to send their best wishes, hoping for a positive resolution to the family health matter and looking forward to seeing Sheinelle Jones back where she belongs—on their TV screens, brightening their mornings once again.
