Ahead of the show’s return, former I’m A Celeb contestants shocked fans by spilling “WILD SECRETS” about what really happens behind the cameras—from food shortages to uncomfortable shower conditions.

Living in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle camp is far from luxurious, but according to recently eliminated contestants,

it’s even more disgusting than what audiences see on TV. While fans are aware that the camp conditions are tough,

the celebrities who braved the jungle this season have shared shocking and stomach-churning details that take the experience to a whole new level of gross.

This isn’t the first time contestants have revealed the grim reality of jungle life.

Last year’s cast made headlines when it was revealed that some of them had gone over a week without showering (looking at you, Frankie Muniz and Skye Wheatley).

However, this season’s stars have shared even more horrifying insights—including revolting toilet duties, relentless bug infestations, and stomach-churning eating trials.

The Filthy Jungle Toilets

Former contestant Tina Provis gave an eye-opening description of the camp’s shared toilet system, breaking down just how awful it was to manage. The camp features two types of toilets: the short drop for urine and the long drop for everything else—and both are equally revolting.

“The big drop toilets go into these garbage bins. They’re literally just garbage bins,” Tina explained. “When you carry them out, the poo one is like nothing you’ve ever smelt in your life. That’s a lot of poo—it’s heavy—like 13 people’s poo, which is absolutely disgusting.”

As for the short drop? That came with its own set of problems. “The pee one sloshes around because it’s a liquid. If you drop it, you’re screwed.”

No Privacy in the Jungle Showers

While some contestants struggled with the toilets, others had difficulty dealing with the lack of privacy—especially when it came to showering.

Actress Sigrid Thorton admitted that she had camped before and had dealt with worse toilets, but nothing could prepare her for being constantly watched. “The most difficult aspect was the constant observation. To be clean, to have a shower, you were being filmed. It was an athletic act.”

However, she reassured fans that, unlike last year’s cast, most celebrities this season actually took showers. “I think a lot of people chose not to shower [last season]. We are filming at a slightly earlier time in the year. I’m pretty sure last year was a bit cooler.”

Bugs, Bugs, and More Bugs

For Olympian Shayna Jack, one of the worst parts of the experience was the overwhelming presence of insects.

“The grossest thing for me in the jungle was that as I was talking, I would swallow a bug,” she revealed.

And it wasn’t just accidental bug consumption that was an issue—sleeping was a nightmare too. “You’d be kind of asleep and a bug would land on you,” Shayna added. “It’s 40-degree heat, you’ve got sleeping bags that you want to be inside because you keep getting touched by bugs, but then you want to be out of it because you’re just so goddamn hot and sweaty. It was bugs everywhere.”

The Disgusting Eating Trials

Of course, no season of I’m A Celebrity would be complete without the dreaded eating trials. While every contestant anticipates these gruesome challenges, some experiences were worse than others.

Tina Provis was initially excited to take part in an eating trial to complete her I’m A Celebrity experience, but her enthusiasm quickly vanished when she saw what was on the menu.

“I could have smashed down the brain, but the second thing that came out on the platter for me was a full rat. It looked at me—it was a full dead rat with fur and a face,” she recalled.

She was overwhelmed by the idea of eating an entire rat, but thankfully, she only had to eat the tail. However, that didn’t make it any easier.

“The tail had all these bones through it. I’m crunching down these bones. I swallow half… at that point, I just vomited the whole thing back up because I was like, ‘I’m not having this in my body. This needs to get out of me immediately.’”

To make matters worse, the experience stuck with her—quite literally. “I have a wire retainer on the back of my teeth, and I had bones all through my retainer for the next couple of hours until I could really scrub them out. Gross!”

But the horror didn’t stop there. Sigrid Thorton revealed a disturbing rule about the eating trials that many viewers might not realize.

“I just couldn’t believe that, in the first eating challenge, you weren’t allowed to throw up. If you did, you would lose the opportunity to gain more food, right?” she said.

This meant that contestants had to keep down whatever they ate—no matter how repulsive.

“Food is pretty important, much more important than I expected. [Celebs were] having to put their vomit back in their mouth and swallow it. That to me is pretty grotesque.”

Who Will Be Crowned Jungle King or Queen?

After the recent double elimination of Geraldine Hickey and Max Balegde, only three contestants remain in the South African jungle: Matty J, Sam Thaiday, and Reggie Bird. One of them will be crowned the winner in Sunday’s grand finale.

With the shocking conditions contestants endured this season, whoever takes home the crown will have truly earned it. From gut-wrenching eating challenges to sleep deprivation and a never-ending bug invasion, surviving I’m A Celebrity is no small feat.
