A source close to Blake Lively claimed they know the outcome of her legal battle with Justin Baldoni: “It’s just like the Will Smith case…”

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have found themselves entangled in a legal battle stemming from their time working together on It Ends With Us.

The highly anticipated film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel has been overshadowed by serious allegations and accusations between its two stars.

Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, claiming that he later attempted to destroy her career through a calculated smear campaign.

Meanwhile, Baldoni has denied these allegations, stating that Lively fabricated the claims to repair her reputation after her control over the film’s press tour led to widespread criticism.

As their dispute continues to unfold, Lively and Baldoni are far from the first Hollywood duo to have tensions spill over from the set into the public eye.

Many actors and directors before them have clashed in ways that turned collaborative projects into battlegrounds.

Will Smith vs. Andy Tennant

Despite Hitch being a beloved romantic comedy, its making was far from smooth sailing. Director Andy Tennant revealed that he and Will Smith frequently clashed over their creative visions for the 2005 film.

Tennant, who had previously directed Sweet Home Alabama, wanted to avoid cheap humor, but Smith wasn’t convinced by his approach. “We had our difficulties,” Tennant recalled, explaining that they struggled to see eye to eye in preproduction. The tension escalated to the point that just three days before filming was set to begin, Smith tried to halt production to continue refining the script.

Chevy Chase vs. Chris Columbus

Before directing Home Alone, Chris Columbus was initially set to direct National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. However, an encounter with Chevy Chase made him walk away from the project.

Columbus recalled a bizarre meeting with Chase, during which the actor barely acknowledged him before abruptly ending their conversation. At one point, Chase even mistook Columbus for a drummer rather than the director. Columbus decided he couldn’t work with Chase, leading him to drop out of the holiday film and later find success with Home Alone.

Burt Reynolds vs. Paul Thomas Anderson

Burt Reynolds and director Paul Thomas Anderson may have worked together on Boogie Nights, but their relationship was far from harmonious.

Despite winning a Golden Globe for his role in the film, Reynolds later admitted that he did not get along with Anderson. He found the young director to be “full of himself” and unimpressed by Anderson’s self-proclaimed innovative filmmaking techniques.

Val Kilmer vs. Joel Schumacher

On the set of Batman Forever, tensions between Val Kilmer and director Joel Schumacher escalated to physical confrontation.

Schumacher described Kilmer as difficult to work with, saying the actor frequently clashed with crew members and displayed inappropriate behavior. Their feud reached its peak when they had a physical altercation. After the film, Kilmer was replaced by George Clooney in the sequel Batman & Robin.

Shelley Duvall vs. Stanley Kubrick

While The Shining is widely regarded as a horror masterpiece, the experience of filming it was grueling for Shelley Duvall. Director Stanley Kubrick subjected her to emotionally draining demands, including making her redo a particularly intense scene 127 times.

Duvall later described her time on set as an exhausting ordeal, saying she was forced to cry for 12 hours a day for weeks. However, she later acknowledged the experience as a significant learning opportunity, even if she wouldn’t want to go through it again.

Megan Fox vs. Michael Bay

Megan Fox’s rocky relationship with director Michael Bay became public knowledge when she compared him to a dictator in a 2009 interview.

Fox claimed that Bay was “like Hitler” on set, describing him as controlling and reckless with actors’ safety. Following her comments, she was fired from the Transformers franchise, though the two eventually reconciled and worked together again on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Bill Murray vs. Harold Ramis

While Bill Murray and Harold Ramis were an iconic duo in Ghostbusters, their relationship took a turn for the worse during the filming of Groundhog Day.

Their creative disagreements escalated into a physical altercation, with Ramis reportedly grabbing Murray by the collar and throwing him against a wall. The feud lasted for two decades before the two finally made amends prior to Ramis’ passing in 2014.

Hollywood’s History of On-Set Feuds Continues

The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is just the latest in a long list of Hollywood feuds that have overshadowed the films they were working on. While some of these conflicts have led to long-term estrangements, others have eventually been resolved.

As the case between Lively and Baldoni unfolds, it remains to be seen whether they will follow the path of reconciliation or remain another example of a once-promising collaboration turned bitter.
