Errol Musk – Elon Musk’s father – caused an uproar by unexpectedly presenting evidence accusing Elon of ending his own child’s life to avoid taking responsibility: “He even ignored their desperate cries for help…”

Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, has once again sparked controversy, this time making shocking claims about the Tesla founder’s late son, Nevada, and Elon’s parenting skills.

Speaking on the South African podcast Wide Awake, Errol alleged that his grandson,

who tragically passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in 2002, had spent “too much time” under the care of nannies.

The remarks have reignited the long-standing tensions between Elon and his father, further highlighting their fractured relationship.

Errol Musk’s Claims About Nevada’s Death

During his appearance on Wide Awake, the 78-year-old made a bold statement regarding Nevada’s passing, insinuating that excessive reliance on nannies contributed to the tragic loss.

“The first child was too much with nannies and died in the care of a nanny,” Errol claimed, referring to Elon and his first wife, Justine Musk’s, son. Nevada was only ten weeks old when he succumbed to SIDS, a condition that remains one of the most heartbreaking and unexplained causes of infant mortality.

Seemingly aware of the impact of his words, Errol added, “If Elon hears this, he’s gonna shoot me or something, but anyway, that’s what I think.”

His comments extended beyond Nevada, as he also criticized his billionaire son’s parenting approach, alleging that Elon “never spent time” with his children.

“They were too rich, [had] too many nannies… then he had five children with the same woman—five sons, each one had its own nanny. You following me?” he stated.

Errol went on to describe what he perceived as an unusual custody arrangement when Elon and Justine divorced in 2008. “When they got divorced, the nannies were six on this side and six on that side. So it was a really weird situation.”

Elon and Justine’s Tragic Loss

Elon Musk and Justine Wilson, a Canadian writer, married in 2000 and welcomed their first son, Nevada, in 2002. However, their joy was short-lived when he passed away unexpectedly due to SIDS.

Both parents have spoken about their grief in the years since. Elon, now 52, once addressed the tragedy in response to online conspiracy theories surrounding child deaths, stating:

“My firstborn child died in my arms. I felt his last heartbeat. I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics, or fame.”

Justine also wrote about their heartbreaking experience in a personal essay for Marie Claire, recalling how their lives changed in an instant.

“The same week eBay bought PayPal in 2002, we had moved to Los Angeles and had our first child, a boy named Nevada Alexander. The sale of PayPal vaulted Elon’s net worth to well over $100 million.

“The same week, Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing. He was 10 weeks old, the age when male infants are most susceptible to SIDS.

“By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead. He spent three days on life support in a hospital in Orange County before we made the decision to take him off it.

“I held him in my arms when he died.”

Elon Musk’s Expanding Family

Following Nevada’s passing, Elon and Justine had five more children together—twins Xavier (now known as Vivian) and Griffin, followed by triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian.

Since his divorce, Musk has had several more children with different partners. He shares three children—X Æ A-12, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus—with musician Grimes. Additionally, he welcomed three more children—Strider, Azure, and another whose name has not been publicly disclosed—with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.

Musk has previously expressed his belief in large families, often joking about his mission to “repopulate the world.” His children have also begun making public appearances, with Strider and Azure recently joining their father at a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Strained Father-Son Relationship

Errol Musk’s comments have only added fuel to the fire of his already troubled relationship with his son. In a 2017 interview, Elon openly described his father as “a terrible human being.”

“You have no idea… my dad will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil. He will plan evil,” he said at the time.

Though he refrained from detailing all of Errol’s past actions, he hinted at a painful history, stating, “My dad was not physically violent with me. He was only physically violent when I was very young.”

Adding to his controversial reputation, Errol Musk made headlines for his personal life as well. He infamously married his stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, in the 1990s. Despite raising her from the age of four, he later had two children with her, a decision that was widely criticized.

Final Thoughts

Errol Musk’s latest remarks about Nevada’s tragic death and Elon’s parenting have once again placed their strained relationship in the spotlight. While Elon has often avoided discussing his father in detail, it’s clear that their dynamic remains deeply fractured.

Despite the controversy, Musk continues to focus on his expanding family, business empire, and ambitions for the future. Whether he will publicly respond to his father’s claims remains to be seen.
